Ostrog and Rijeka Crnojevic
Visit the cave-like chapel of Ostrog Monastery and enjoy a boat tour on the pristine waters of Lake Skadar.
Venture into the mountains of Montenegro and discover Ostrog Monastery, the most popular pilgrimage site in Montenegro. Carved into the mountain cliff in the XVII century, the monastery is an incredible feat of architecture. It is the spiritual centre of Montenegro as well as one of the most popular Orthodox sites in the world. The lower church of the upper monastery is also home to the holy remains of Saint Basil (St. Vasilije Ostroski). A guided tour through Ostrog Monastery will reveal all of its spiritual wonders.
Next, visit Rijeka Crnojevic, a peaceful town on the edge of Skadar Lake. Skadar is the largest lake in the Balkans. There, visitors will find diverse natural wonders including 270 species of birds, many of which are endangered, and plant and animal species that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. History and nature are also intertwined; Skadar is also home to many churches, monuments, and the remains of Obod city.
After lunch in Rijeka Crnojevic, take a scenic boat ride on Skadar Lake and get in touch with nature. Following a walk to Pavlova Strana viewpoint, we will return to Kotor with other photo breaks at stunning vistas along the way including Cetinje and the riviera town of Budva.
